Continuum of concerted services
The aim of the continuum is to help toddlers develop communication and language. It does this by creating a series of connected services in promotion, prevention and intervention. This plan is built on evidence, the knowledge of public network speech therapists, and the practices of everyone involved in a specific area or region. In working together, the people in a region strive to lessen the obstacles to accessing activities and interventions along this continuum. Throughout this effort, the focus is on children and their parents as the central point of the collective actions within the community speech therapy service continuum.

Montérégie-speech therapy and language development working group (GTM-ODL)
In 2011, the early childhood consultation tables of Montérégie found a shortage of speech therapy services for children (0 to 5 years old). These tables, which include partners from various areas like community organizations, daycares, early childhood centers and health professionals, led to the creation of the Montérégie working group on community speech therapy and language development (GTM-ODL). They assessed the prevention, promotion and intervention services for children aged 0 to 5 in each CLSC territory. The assessment showed limited resources in the public network for communication development and language stimulation, with uneven service availability.
Today, a consultation involving 15 early childhood tables in Montérégie has come up with an innovative plan to provide effective support to parents and toddlers for language and communication development. To learn more, visit the GTM-ODL website by clicking here.
Montérégie Ouest's Alliance Langage
In 2020, thanks to funding from l’Alliance pour la solidarité, local language committees in Montérégie-Ouest teamed up to create the continuum. The Jardins-Roussillon, Suroît/Haut-St-Laurent and Vaudreuil-Soulanges committees, involving language-focused organizations, collaborated on the Alliance Langage project. Their goal was to better address the needs of families and develop shared tools.
On September 27, 2023, the Language Alliance partners proudly presented the results of their work from the past few years. You can explore all their actions and thoughts in their report, available for viewing below (Note: English version not available) :
